How Something is Made

This example is a Vase
It Starts out as this liquid Mixture...

The mixture is poured in these molds....The mixture sits in the molds then it's dumped out

The remaining mixture sits in the mold ....When the mold is opened and the vase is removed and it is damp and dark gray...It is very fragile you could easily put your finger through it at this point.
The piece begins to dry out and the color changes to a lighter gray...after a few days you can "clean" the piece which means sanding it and making it pretty..It is still fragile

Once cleaned the piece is now ready for the kiln! It will go in the kiln and the Kiln will heat to about 1888 degrees.
Once out of the kiln the piece is white and looks like this picture. It's not as fragile as it once was and it can be glazed

Then I glaze the items -for the vases I glaze the inside clear so it can hold water, and the outside colorful! and let them dry ...they look dull and not always the color they come out as...there are little crystals in the glaze that melt and explode in the kiln to make the pretty designs...The items are put back in the kiln , it gets fired and it takes some time to cool down before you can open it.....
When you open the Kiln they are all nice and pretty

And this is your final result!
